A brand-new epic poem that draws on Ancient Greek literature and South Asian culture, to tell a powerful, relevant story about the destruction that war brings and the indifference of gods.

At Rose Bruford, I took on a role as the stage manager on book for The Godless War, a one-man epic poem written and performed by Arif Silverman. After the Symposium festival, the team began discussing the possibility of bringing it out to pub theatres in London. We managed to book three venues: The Lion and Unicorn in January, Bridge House Theatre in March, and The Bread and Roses Theatre in July.
I spent the beginning of the week rigging lights and changing gels, adjusting focuses up ladders, and ended the week operating the entire show off of an array of screens surrounding me. I had to call from a digital script due to a simple lack of space on the desk. This led to an incident where my first use of a digital script had an alarming issue, a pop-up obscuring it during a critical moment of the show, and I was able to deal with it, and acquaintances in the audience said that there was little indication that something had gone wrong.
It is always a great joy to work with Arif and the team, and every production is a whirlwind week of discoveries.
